The portable fuel analyser developed by Grabner Instruments is used for fully automatic, rapid and accurate fuel measurements.
The whole spectrum is measured using the extremely compact FTIR (Fourier Transformed Infrared) spectrometer. Full information on fuel composition is determined by analysing more than 40 different components. The device also determines a series of parameters which are crucial for the quality of the fuel, such as octane number, cetane number, vapour pressure and distillation properties.
The simple handling of the unit makes it easy to use and significantly reduces the training requirement. Users do not require any petrochemical expertise.
The instrument is perfectly pre-configured for fuel analysis, and the portable analyser enables measurements to be made "straight out of the box". An integral electronic density measurement facility and a refined mathematical model, which is used for analysing the spectrum, make the MINISCAN IRXpert an outstanding measuring instrument.
"The collaboration with Phytec has helped us to implement a technically complex development project in a very short time and with a comparatively small development team. We were able to quickly develop a first prototype with the phyCORE module and a development kit; a baseboard which has been designed especially for us is used for series units.
Looking back, the combination of hardware and software know-how at Phytec was of tremendous value to us."
