Phytec and Vision Components announce partnership:
Processor boards and MIPI cameras perfectly integrated

Mainz, February 20, 2025

Phytec and Vision Components have agreed to collaborate on the integration of cameras into embedded systems. The partnership enables users to easily operate all of VC's 50+ MIPI cameras with Phytec embedded imaging processor boards. The corresponding drivers are already included in the Linux BSP of the Phytec modules. As a first result, both companies are presenting the Phytec phyBOARD-Pollux Embedded Imaging Kit with NXP i.MX 8M Plus processor and VC MIPI IMX900 color camera at embedded world. The kit will soon be available via the sales channels of both companies, whereby the VC MIPI Camera can be freely selected. Customers will benefit from the wide range of image sensors, perfect interaction with the processor boards and comprehensive support in the development and integration of their vision projects.

Vision kits with NXP i.MX 8M Plus and i.MX 8M Mini processors

Phytec has developed a corresponding adapter for the phyBOARD-Pollux Embedded Imaging Kit, with which the VC MIPI Cameras can be connected to the processor board using a standard FPC cable. The phyBOARD-Polis kit with NXP i.MX 8M Mini processor for VC MIPI Cameras will also be available soon. With both kits, customers receive close-to-production hardware including their desired image sensors from the large VC range. Thanks to the ready-to-use Linux systems and demo software supplied, they can start developing their applications straight away, saving development time and costs for series qualification.

Embedded vision expertise from two strong partners

Jan-Erik Schmitt, Vice President of Sales at Vision Components, says:
“As a manufacturer of embedded system on modules and processor boards with its own embedded vision department, Phytec has in-depth know-how and project experience. We are delighted about the cooperation, in which our joint customers will benefit from the deep integration of our cameras in hardware and software as well as services such as the ISP calibration service for NXP processors.”

Martin Klahr, Head of Digital Imaging at Phytec, adds:
“We are already working successfully with VC MIPI Cameras in customer projects. The large portfolio ideally complements our own camera series and enables customers to work directly with the desired processor board and the right camera for the respective application, from the prototype to the series product.”
