One Footprint – Three Modules
The phyCORE modules with new processors i.MX 93 from NXP and STM32MP13x from ST have the same pinout as the phyCORE-i.MX 6UL.This pin compatibility makes it possible for future projects to change the module during the current product life cycle without redesigning the baseboard. For example, projects can be implemented initially with the low-cost phyCORE-STM32MP13x module and later, when new requirments have been added, simply migrated to the higher-performance phyCORE-i.MX 93. The phyCORE-i.MX 93 has two Cortex-A55 and one Cortex-M33 onboard MCU, plus an additional Arm ®Ethos™ NPU for machine learning applications. The new module with the STM32MP13x has one Cortex-A7 as well as the Arm ®NEON™ SIMD extension for accelerating multimedia and signal processing algorithms. All three modules are soldered without connectors (direct solder). This brings both a price advantage of up to 20% and a size advantage as these phyCOREs have a very low installation height.
Industrial-grade Modules from PHYTEC
In industrial applications, the robustness of the module and the availability of suitable protocols and interfaces are particularly important. In the future, Phytec will offer phyCORE modules with the Texas Instruments processors AM62x and AM64x processors for this purpose.
The phyCORE AM64x is a robust and reliable headless embedded solution for industrial communication systems. The 50mm x 37mm SOM features an extensive 280-pin interconnect that supports common communication protocols such as CAN, EtherCAT, UART and I2C, as well as automation-specific interfaces such as ePWM, eCAP and eQEP.
The phyCORE AM62x offers ultra-low-power modes, dual-display, multi-sensor edge computing, security, and other BOM-saving integrations. It targets a wide range of applications including industrial HMI, PLC/CNC/robot control, medical devices, building automation and more.
