We are hiring: Electronics Technician for Test Automation – Embedded Linux (m/f/d)

Your tasks:

From the very beginning, you take over:

  • Setup and cabling of test rack units for the respective target hardware together with the development teams.
  • Procurement, management and exchange of test materials, components and support hardware
  • Installation and configuration of operating systems (Linux) on test control computers
  • Reproducible system setup of new test nodes with Ansible
  • Integration of new test nodes into our CI infrastructure
  • After the initial training, you will expand your responsibilities:
  • Configuration of test adapters and remote board control
  • Setting up and maintaining test flows in the PHYTEC Test Framework for the CI pipeline
  • Conducting integration tests during major framework updates

 

Your profile:

What you bring - Hardware:

  • Completed technical training, e.g. as an electronics technician for devices and systems, IT systems electronics technician, electronics technician for information and systems technology
  • Practical experience in setting up and wiring laboratory hardware (rack setup, embedded boards, peripherals)
  • Craftsmanship and care in setting up test benches

What you bring with you – Software:

  • Confident handling of Linux on the command line (ideally embedded Linux)
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines 
  • Basic knowledge of a scripting language (e.g., Bash, Python)

You bring the following with you personally:

  • Structured and independent work style
  • Enjoyment of technical problem-solving at the interface of hardware and software

That's a plus:

  • Practical experience with Ansible or similar configuration management tools
  • Python skills are a great advantage, as our internal test framework is Python-based.
  • Experience with Jenkins or similar CI systems
  • Experience with Labgrid (remote board control for test automation)
  • Knowledge in the area of ​​Board Support Package (BSP), Yocto or embedded systems
  • Experience with test automation and the setup of test infrastructures
  • Experience with embedded boards and their debug interfaces (UART, JTAG, USB, serial consoles)
