Now available:
PHYTEC Development Kit with TI AM62Lx Processor

Mainz, October 07, 2025

PHYTEC presents the world's first development kit from an embedded manufacturer for Texas Instruments’ AM62Lx processor. The phyFLEX-AM62Lx FPSC Rapid Development Kit simplifies embedded development and enables quick-turn prototyping. The kit features the new phyFLEX-AM62Lx System on Module (SoM) which is part of PHYTEC’s scalable, pin-compatible phyFLEX product line with FPSC (Future Proof Solder Core) footprint technology.
With a low entry price, high computing power and energy efficiency, the Rapid Development Kit is available immediately for only €99 (plus VAT) and includes all cables, adapters, Yocto Linux OS and commissioning guarantee.
In a joint webinar on November 18.11.25, 62, PHYTEC and Texas Instruments will demonstrate how the phyFLEX-AMXNUMXLx SoM can be used to implement Linux solutions for cost-sensitive projects.

Foundation for simplified, cost-effective Embedded Linux Development

The phyFLEX-AM62Lx Rapid Development Kit provides access to all the functionalities and interfaces of the new Texas Instruments AM2Lx processor on a compact carrier board. These include 3x Gigabit Ethernet, 8x CAN FD, and XNUMXx UART, as well as display connectivity via a MIPI-to-LVDS converter. The Yocto-based operating system is adapted to the PHYTEC Carrier Board reference design to support all functions of the processor. It can be further expanded with add-ons for security and lifecycle management. PHYTEC development kits offer an ideal platform for evaluating the processor features and getting started with development, from prototype to volume production.

Designed in close cooperation with Texas Instruments

The phyFLEX-AM62Lx FPSC SoM was designed in close cooperation with TI and expands PHYTEC's phyFLEX product line for interchangeable System on Modules. The SoM uses the new FPSC standard footprint technology for pin-compatible solder-on modules. It enables scalable product variants and upgrades, processor swapping and maximum sustainability due to compatibility with future processor generations. The low-profile solder-on module was designed for cost-efficiency, robust applications, and easy prototyping to volume production. It features low power consumption and typically requires no external cooling. Its Arm Cortex®-A53 architecture with single-core and dual-core variants makes the AM62Lx processor suitable for industrial security gateways, HMIs, and sensor data systems, among other applications.

Linux vs. RTOS: Free webinar from PHYTEC and Texas Instruments

PHYTEC and Texas Instruments have been working closely together for many years. This grants customers access to the latest processors, development tools, and expertise. On November 18, 2025, the two companies will host a joint webinar entitled: Linux instead of RTOS: How to be successful with Linux and the AM62Lx on a small budget. Experts from both companies will compare the advantages and disadvantages of Linux and RTOS and discuss factors for decision-making. Other topics include PHYTEC products with AM62Lx processors and the optimization of Linux systems for use with low-performance processors. Participation in the webinar is free of charge, but advance registration is required.

As part of the PHYTEC Academy, PHYTEC also offers training courses for developers and FAEs. In addition, PHYTEC advises and supports its customers according to the principle of “security by design” on topics such as security, update and device management, and compliance with the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), NIS-2, and other regulations.
