Mainz, February 25, 2026
"De-Risk Your Development" – under this motto, PHYTEC is presenting new products and services at embedded world that minimize risks in software, hardware, and product development. These include the interchangeable phyFLEX System on Modules (SOMs), which are being introduced for the first time with the new NXP i.MX 952 and i.MX 937 processors, STMicroelectronics STM32MP2, Synaptics SL261x, and the Texas Instruments AM62P.
Specifically for vision applications, PHYTEC is showcasing phyVIP, an integration platform based on the phyFLEX module standard. Initially, it is available with the NXP i.MX 8M Plus and i.MX 95 processors, including optional AI accelerators. The platform reduces the development effort for vision applications by up to 70 percent.
Also premiering are System on Modules and OEM solutions running Ubuntu Pro for Devices. The package-based operating system offers integrated security patches and is aimed at customers who want to implement long-term maintainability and security-by-design.
With regards to the requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act, PHYTEC is also expanding its portfolio with scalable security services and new update and device management offers.
Interchangeable SoMs for Scalability and Resilience
The new interchangeable phyFLEX solder-on modules expand the scalability of the series from low-cost to high-performance. They enable resilience in the event of component shortages, lifecycle upgrades, and product series with scalable performance and features. The phyFLEX-i.MX 952 FPSC is a variant of the NXP i.MX 95 with four instead of six ARM Cortex-A55 cores, a smaller GPU and NPU configuration. It features tiered computing power for more cost-effective product variants without changes to the carrier board. Both processors feature the same security concept, an integrated ISP, and ARM Cortex-M7/-M33 cores for real-time control.
Optimal Performance Despite Memory Crisis
With the phyFLEX-i.MX 93 FPSC, PHYTEC relies on an architecture with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 and an ARM Cortex-M33 core for real-time tasks, as well as LPDDR5 memory. This memory type is currently cost-effective and widely available, delivering a high bandwidth of up to 5,8 GByte/s and energy efficiency. The module demonstrates how the interchangeable phyFLEX System on Modules with FPSC footprint enable resilience and alternatives in the event of component shortages or unexpected discontinuations.
For applications with high graphics requirements, PHYTEC is enriching the module series with the phyFLEX-AM62P. The Texas Instruments processor is equipped with up to four ARM Cortex-A53 cores and a GPU with a performance of up to 50 GFLOPS. This enables demanding graphics applications. A demo will be shown at the PHYTEC booth as well as at the Texas Instruments booth (3A-131), comparing the graphics performance of AM62P and AM62L, and highlighting the scalability of TI’s processors and PHYTEC’s phyFLEX Modules.
Cost-effective SOMs for Edge AI and Mobile Devices
The phyFLEX-STMXNUMXMPXNUMXx FPSC SOM integrates the STMXNUMXMPXNUMX series, STMicroelectronics' second-generation of processors, into a cost-effective and compact solder-down module utilizing FPSC technology. Combining high computing power, high-end interfaces, and security features, it is ideal for numerous industrial applications, including edge AI and mobile devices. The phyFLEX-STMXNUMXMPXNUMXx SOM offers a range of configurations from single-core to dual-core variants, and with optional GPU.
For the first time PHYTEC adds a processor from the manufacturer Synaptics to the solder-on module series, presenting the phyFLEX-SL261x. It is characterized by a favorable price-performance ratio, scalable computing power including AI units, and low energy consumption, making it ideal for a wide variety of IoT devices.
SoMs with Ubuntu Pro and Services for Security and Cyber Resilience
A key focus at the PHYTEC booth will be software for security and cyber resilience. The Mainz/Germany based company is presenting SOMs and OEM products with Ubuntu Pro as an alternative operating system for the first time. Customers can use these products with the services of Ubuntu Pro for Devices, including long-term security patches, extended maintenance options, and professional support. Thanks to simple installation via package manager and standardized update mechanisms, Ubuntu Pro enables rapid entry into development and shortens time-to-market.
Comprehensive services covering security, cyber resilience, CRA compliance, as well as update and device management round off PHYTEC’s offering.
OEM Solutions and Integration Platforms, from IoT and Vision to EV Charging
